Does anyone buy music anymore? Seriously, I’d like to know if I’m in the minority here. If that’s the case maybe I should follow suit and just take up a new hobby. I heard that stamp collecting or knitting can be very rewarding. It is pervasively known that overall music purchases are down in comparison to previous year’s sales. People are more inclined to bring up internet downloading and the cancerous effects it has on the sales charts. For me personally, this scenario could not be further from the truth. I can assertively say that since the vast mediums of acquiring music became available, the amount of albums that I purchase per month has increased considerably. |

As I paraded the streets enjoying the festivities that each Fourth of July holiday brings, a couple of hip-hop related issues that had been in the deep recesses of my brain were randomly brought to the forefront of my thoughts. These particularly aren’t glaring issues in the rap game, nor are they necessarily bad. They are personally, just a few confusing things that have crept their way into my mind from time to time. I figured that I’d share them with you today. |

In the year 2006, the total album sales for hip-hop and music in general continued its seemingly routine decline in comparison to the previous year's sales. However, after a couple of years in which rap music collectively was not up to par from an artistic standpoint, one could argue that there was a sufficient amount of quality hip-hop in 06. Last year saw LP releases from veterans such as Nas, Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, & The Roots, coupled with younger generation artists like The Clipse, Lupe Fiasco (my personal favorite album of last year), T.I. and The Game. |
