Literally. Now I am not knocking people who, lets say, are in tough situations and have to do what they have to do. Everyone has their idea and their own way of hustling. If you have to strip to pay your way through school, handle it. But, to keep it real, Superhead is a hoe. And she exploits this fact for commercial gain, which is really the problem I have with her. More than that, her story leaves me quite disappointed with American culture and ideals.

Here’s the situation. Said video vixen slept with all of the hip hop industry. Then she goes and writes a book about it. This book is not only rumored to have received more of an advance than Bill Clinton’s book, but it appeared on many top sellers list. I personally take offense to this, and months ago was deeply affected by it.

I am a writer. No, I do not want to write as a hobby or in my spare time. My career goal is to write books. Period. Last year while a first year graduate student at UCLA, I started writing my first book. This book examines black masculinity and politics in hip hop culture. I look at the stereotypes, take it back to slavery, and also examine all the good that is still in hip hop and ways we can use hip hop to mobilize and uplift the black community. I feel it is a very important and necessary educational book.

When I was close to finishing my book around April, I started sending out proposals to several publishers. Of course, anyone in the artistic field knows that not everyone is going to like them or agree with their work, so I was prepared for several rejections. Well, the rejection letters started piling up. After a certain number, I started to take it personal. It hurts when someone says no to your dream, your passion, your blood, sweat, and tears. My baby was being rejected by society. Meanwhile, “superhead” is sitting lovely with the royalties from her book. She didn’t go to college like I did. She didn’t move across country with no money to attend graduate school to try to better herself. No, she sucked a lot of dick. And man, do people love to read about that. I got to the point when I just accepted the fact that American society has always thrived off violence and sex. Anything else is just disregarded as rubbish. However, as black people I do think we need to be bothered by the fact that “superhead” was able to capitalize off of taking back shots. We need to be angry that her book sells more copies than the books from leading black scholars. We need to be upset that people in our community are excited to read books like hers. And we need to be upset that being a whore is more rewarded than going to school.

One step at a time, we need to change the values of our society by placing more importance on good literature. And we need to support people in the black community who are trying to push out said literature. Superhead, fine. You have your hustle. Sex, exploitation. You have to live with that. I will stick to my hustle of school and the perpetual grind to accomplish my dreams. Oh, and I did sign with a book publisher. No sex needed.

Man I have to keep it real,I did read her book, (but didn't contribute to her sales) and took it for what it was, tabloid trash. And after hearing the recent radio interviews she's done, I think she's even more full of shit than before! It is sad that she's making money off of being a hoe, just like it's sad that more people read magazines like US weekly and OK! than a book that will educate them. I wouldn't be as mad at her if she really was trying to better herself and teach young girls what not to do, but she still hasn't learned her lesson and continues to suck every dick in Hollywood! lol. Her interview with Oprah was a sham and she's a sham. Everyone needs to have a balance, for every shallow thing you read, make sure you read something of substance. And I'll make sure to buy your book!!!

This bitch should be prosecuted as a prostitute. Or should we legalize prositution? But, I can't knock her for being her own pimp. Prostitution is the world's oldest profession. These are some dumb ass horny guys she's messing with too. I heard Big Tigger wants to sue her for outing him as a homosexual. Madness!

She may be rewarded for being a whore but I'm sure the way Superhead garnered her fame is not by the method she preferred. I'm sure she would rather be famous and successful for doing something other than blowing the big shots. I personally am not angry at her for getting her money doing what she does, nor am I upset that she is getting more success than those that perform more noble acts. This is American society and sex sells. All we can hope for is that positive role models of color don't get sucked into this and continue to do what they do, though the road to success with be tougher and less glamorized. Trust me, Superhead is paying a huge price for selling out this way-- morally and socially.

While I do share your sentiment against trash being the chosen read over more serious matters that actually affect and bring knowledge to the Black community, I say why even waste the time and webspace writing about someone as trifling as her. You just give more energy and possibly sales by posting her pics and the book cover.

F##$ the big publishers and self-publish even if you gotta do it on the web with E-books. Mo fire to ya! And check out Third Wold Press out of Chicago to get some positive feedback on your manuscript.

Superhead's great. i applaud her for not being a square-hoe (meaning that she's not laying on her back for the FREEski). i wish i could find more Black women like her. all of the other ones i've encountered have toO many pride, daddy, illegitamate kid, overweight, etc. issues. it's funny that out of all of the men she "dated", Superhead only respected a White man (way to go Brother Maher). what are you black guys doing to your nubian queens?! lol, get it together. keep it up and "something new" will become "something PERMANENT". kudos to the author. are you available cutie? i need some mocha in my milk.
