What I am about to write might sound like sentimentality or hyperbole or bullshit. But it is the truth. Or at least my truth. If it sounds like any of the aforementioned, please excuse me. Words can only accomplish so much.

As a long time fan of hip-hop, it's only right that I type this. Jay-Z (Big Pimpin' off Jay's 4th album) is often known as the man who brought the Underground Kingz (UGK) to the spotlight, but anyone who ever owned the Menace II Society soundtrack during the time of it's release (Spring 1993) knows damn well that UGK has been in the game for nearly 20 years. Real talk, UGK honestly opened more doors for Jay than he did for them. That may be a really hard statement for a non-southerner to understand, but as an unbiased fan of the hip-hop genre, I can assure you that my statement is valid.
After a qualifying exam-induced hiatus, I was finally able to catch up on the current season of The Boondocks. In the episode “Stinkmeaner Strikes”, the Freeman’s are haunted by the ghost of the guy Grandad killed in season one. Huey wants to know who to defeat this evil spirit, and Ghostface Killah in a cameo role cryptically says, “Think about it. Peace.”
The other evening as I was randomly reviewing celebrity news stories and came across yet another story about the one and only, Britney Spears. Ironically, this particular story was not about suspect substance abuse, late night club hopping, or her custody battle with K. Fed. Instead, the article was about Spears helping international children. Apparently, Spears is auctioning off an autographed copy of her latest album, Blackout, to support the UNICEF [United Nations Children's Fund]. The first thought that came to my mind was "it's about time this party animal is doing something productive with her money."
I think Terrell Owens is one of the more selfish and self-centered human beings I have ever watched on television. Yet, for all his faults (and they are numerous), at least I have never seen him put in a lackluster performance while he is on the field. Terrell Owens may quit on his team off the field, but when he is on the field he gives it his all. I cannot say the same thing about Randy Moss. The more Randy excels while with the Patriots the more angry I get over his performance with the Raiders.
