President Bush isn’t the only one who manages to mangle the English language every time he speaks. A large percentage of a small, celebrated class of men couldn’t put two grammatically correct sentences together with the help of a dictionary, a power drill, and a tub of super glue. I’m referring to black athletes.

Randomly flipping through channels on a Friday afternoon, I found an old MC Lyte video: Cappuccino. First, I had to check the channel. Lo and behold it was BET. Second, I had to readjust my eyes. Lyte? The Lyte? Finally, I found myself in a temporal wanderlust: ready to search the recesses of memory for what life was like with Lyte.
